UNERUPTED TEETH, A NEW SYMPTOM OF AMYLOIDOSIS?

1.1. Background: Amyloidosis are rare diseases related to the pathological aggregation and accumulation of misfolded proteins in the extracellular space generating insoluble deposits. This may occur in almost any tissue and organ, leading to severe structural damages and functional impairments. Oral manifestations are fre quent in systemic amyloidosis and represent 9% of the localized forms.

The role of bone mineral density assessment in health-related quality of life in postmenopausal Han Chinese women prior to clinic diagnosis of osteoporosis

1.1. Purpose: Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease and strongly associated with reduced quality of life (QoL). The aim of the study was to explore BMD that might serve as index of health-related QoL (HRQoL), or the relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) and HRQoL in postmenopausal Han Chi nese women prior to diagnosis of osteoporosis

After sequential therapy with first and third generation EGFR-TKIs, a patient acquired EGFR G719A mutation and responded to afatinib, and then, acquired EGFR T790M mutation when developed resistance to afatinib:a case report

NSCLC patients who had sensitive EGFR mutation had great pos sibility to get benefit from EGFR-TKIs. But this efficacy was re lied on related EGFR mutation, if related EGFR mutation changed, resistance would happened. In our report, we did next generation sequencing(NGS) each time the patient had progression.

Commentary: Defecation delay in patients after lung tumor surgery: a prospective nested case-control study

This is a brief commentary to our article “Defecation delay in pa tients after lung tumor surgery: a prospective nested case-control study” [1]. The author Chen used to be a resident and rotate in different departments of surgery and find that discomfort related to defecation is quite common in patients receiving various opera tion under general anesthesia. Even operations not associated with gastrointestinal tract like thyroidectomy may develop a need for laxatives though patients recovered quickly after the procedure. However, this problem is usually not fully appreciated and just a few studies focused on it.

A Road From Coronary To Pulmonary: A Rare Imaging Presentation

Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. Its association with Pulmonary Atresia is considered to be the most severe form, the diagnosis of which plays an import ant role in determination of the treatment protocol. In such cases, systemic vascular channels called Major Aortopulmonary Collat eral Arteries (MAPCA’s) develop from aorta and its major branch es to supply and maintain the pulmonary circulation. Such patients commonly undergo a Cardiac CT as an imperative pre-operative investigation for detailed information of these collaterals which helps plan further management.

SARS-Cov2 and limb ischemia

Patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov2) infection mainly present severe pneumonia associ ated with complications related to cytokine storm syndrome. So, it was associated with thrombotic incidents like acute limb ischemia and pulmonary embolism.

A metastatic melanoma patient with spontaneous melano-ma-associated vitiligo survived for up to 7 years and 5 months: a case report

1.1. Background: Malignant melanoma is a highly malignant tu mor caused by abnormal proliferation of melanoma cells in the skin and mucous membranes, with a poor prognosis after metasta sis. Skin melanocytes are gradually destroyed in vitiligo patients. There is a certain correlation between these two diseases: In these two conditions, cytotoxic T lymphocytes that target autoantigens shared by normal melanocytes and melanoma cells have been found. Spontaneous melanoma-associated vitiligo was relatively rare before melanoma was diagnosed, and its pathogenesis and prognosis were rarely studied.

Quality of Life, after bariatric Surgery

Obesity is a disease characterized by the abnormal accumulation of body fat. It is estimated that there are 650 000 000 obese adults. Its incidence has increased in recent years, contributing to the de crease in the average life expectancy of up to 12 years and with a worsening in the quality of life of the obese, mainly due to the association with systemic diseases. This study was to verify the effect of Bariatric surgery on the quality of life of obese patients with a BMI greater than or equal to 35 kg/m2 through verifica tion of the perception of these operated patients about changes in quality of life.
